What’s a Specialty Dance, when are auditions, how old do I need to be and can I dance in more than one?
Specialty dances involve more difficult choreography than the other dances in the festival. The three specialty dances will be Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha and Irish. Participation is by audition and there will only be a limited number of spots. Previous dance experience in the dance form is not required but helpful. You must be in Grades 8-12 to participate in the Viennese Waltz or Cha Cha dances. The Irish Dance is an ALL GIRL dance. Beehives are welcome to audition with the understanding that preference will be given to girls in grades 8-12 (no more than 10 beehives in the dance). You can only dance in ONE specialty dance. Check the Specialty Dance page of the website for more info about audition dates, practice schedule, etc.
